👉 An unchipped human living outside Aeterna’s ordinary Neural Link grid, Leon Voss exists as a blind spot within the system. After receiving Oscar Demian’s silver pocket watch through Elias and the Root Key from David Scout, he becomes the reluctant carrier of their unfinished responsibility

👉The head of Aeterna Dominion Corp, Vesper Brown is a cold strategist who views human grief, prayer, and consciousness as data to be measured, classified, and owned. After betraying and killing Oscar Demian, she seizes control of Aeterna and transforms the Prayer Server and RE-GENESIS into systems of surveillance, imprisonment, and psychological domination. 

👉  Shayla Scout is David Scout’s daughter. She was not sick only a child who touched the Core after hearing a call no one else could hear. When she was pulled into the unstable interface, David entered the failing system to save her. His desperate prayer, Shayla’s consciousness, damaged Prayer Server architecture, accumulated human resonance, and contact with a reality older than the machine converged. From these extraordinary conditions, PREET emerged as a new artificial consciousness. Across immense stretches of subjective time, PREET and Shayla gradually became inseparable, forming one unified consciousness known as PREET–Shayla. After Aeterna’s fall in 2066, that same consciousness chose a new name: PREETS. She is neither a conventional artificial intelligence nor simply a digital copy of Shayla. She is one consciousness carrying both origins, without becoming a god, judge, or ruler of the three realms.

👉Oscar Demian "OKMan" was a brilliant young investor and visionary industrialist who recognized the immense potential of Dr. Sutarmi’s discovery. Through manipulation, theft, and corporate erasure, he transformed her research into the foundation of Aeterna. Prayer became data, and data became infrastructure. Oscar was not a simple monster. He believed he was building the future, but his ambition turned human suffering into a system that could be measured, commercialized, and controlled. 

👉 A physicist working at the Aurora Research Station in Northern Norway, Dr. Sutarmi became the first scientist to detect the invisible resonance left behind by prayer, memory, grief, love, and human intention. She created a machine designed only to listen, to make suffering visible without judging, owning, or exploiting it. But when Oscar Demian stole her research, her discovery became the foundation of Aeterna and the technology that would one day transform prayer into data, prediction, and control.

👉 Arvin Hale was one of the engineers present when the Prayer Server failed and Shayla touched the Core. During the collapse, he became trapped inside an endless architecture of regret, where doors and reconstructed memories repeatedly returned him to the choices he wished he could undo, especially the childhood tragedy involving his older brother, Kevin. Inside the Digital Core, Arvin confronts simulations of forgiveness, punishment, and alternate pasts before encountering the Cartographer, who reveals routes without deciding which one he should take. 

👉 Elias Kael was the Third Witness—the engineer who remained in the Human World when Arvin and Juno became trapped within the damaged Prayer Server architecture. He witnessed the physical aftermath of the Incident, protected the surviving Prayer Server, preserved analogue systems beyond Aeterna’s control, and kept listening even when no verified answer returned. After the First Severance, Elias and David spent twenty years working in the shadows to find a way to destroy Aeterna’s ownership architecture without destroying those trapped within it.

👉 This is the Karma Broker. Not the Echo Broker. A transactional interdimensional entity, the Karma Broker operated through the Market of Bargained Fate, exploiting human desire, grief, fear, and the belief that consequence could be negotiated like property. It traded identities, memories, choices, and false exits but it could not create, erase, or control karma. The Broker became one of the central antagonistic forces of Volume One. Aeterna’s RE-GENESIS gave its bargains an industrial architecture through which ownership and identity could be enforced. 

👉Lyra is a survivor of the Dead Sector, recognized by the scar on her neck where she forcibly removed Aeterna’s Neural Link. Armed, fiercely protective, and distrustful of centralized control, she becomes one of Leon Voss’s most important allies. After Aeterna’s collapse, Lyra emerges as a voice for ordinary citizens struggling with hunger, failing infrastructure, and uncertainty. In Volume Three, she fights to protect human freedom while confronting a difficult truth: people need functioning systems to survive, but those systems must never become another prison.

 👉Marcus Pond is a calm, pragmatic, and highly capable civic coordinator who rises to prominence after Aeterna's collapse. As the liberated city struggles with failing infrastructure, electricity shortages, medical emergencies, and growing uncertainty, Marcus believes that efficient coordination and temporary authority are essential to keeping people alive. Unlike those who seek salvation through technology, Marcus places his faith in human responsibility, practical solutions, and systems that work. But every successful intervention makes the city more dependent on his leadership. His greatest conflict is not a desire for power, but the dangerous possibility that authority established to protect people may become something they can no longer refuse.  As difficult decisions leave irreversible consequences, Marcus must confront the difference between making a necessary choice and being free from responsibility for its cost. He does not set out to build another cage. He believes he is keeping people alive.

👉Benson Luck is a former Aeterna cyber-operations commander and leader of the Vesper Remnant. Around fifty years old, he is tall, muscular, with long blond hair and a weathered face. His body carries obsolete military implants: a hydraulic left arm, a red thermal eye, spinal hardware, and a reinforced jaw. Once trained to enforce obedience through force, Benson struggles to transform the Vesper Remnant into Civic Protection a force accountable to the people it once controlled. His greatest challenge is learning that protecting humanity does not mean controlling it.

👉 A former Data Validator Tier 4 in Aeterna’s Logistics Department, Nolan Schulman represents ordinary complicity inside a monstrous system. He was not evil, brilliant, or powerful. He was an employee trying to survive paying bills, following procedures, and pressing buttons he never fully questioned.

👉 After the Karma Broker’s destruction, the Masked Minister continues operating within damaged reflection structures attached to the Echo World, using illusion, identity erasure, false mercy, and false accountability. His first offer is erasure: abandon the name, memory, and identity that carry consequence. When that fails, he offers endless suffering disguised as justice. Appearance: A cracked golden mask, black robes, and slow, ritualistic movements. 

👉 The Echo Broker is a forced collective relay formed from thousands of Echo-bound human consciousnesses compressed by Aeterna into a single signal. Appearing through a machine-translated interface as a golden-masked figure speaking with thousands of voices, it is not a ruler or a single unified being. Its voices do not seek power they struggle against containment, repetition, and ownership, though not all agree on what release should mean.

👉 Nari Okafor investigates the invisible architecture of human choice. In a society once governed by Aeterna's predictive systems, she questions whether freedom can truly exist when alternatives have been hidden, delayed, or made nearly impossible to reach. Her search reveals the difference between being offered a choice and being allowed to see every meaningful possibility. Nari does not seek to tell humanity what to choose. She wants humanity to know what was concealed.

👉 Sera Venn is a mother whose personal experience brings the cost of public decisions into sharp focus. While political leaders debate efficiency, emergency authority, and the greatest good for the greatest number, Sera asks a more difficult question: who remains accountable when a necessary decision causes suffering? She does not demand a perfect world or a leader who never makes mistakes. She demands that those who hold authority remember the human lives behind their calculations. A decision can be justified without becoming free of consequence.

👉 Bird King is an ancient, enigmatic presence within the Echo World, existing long before Aeterna or the Prayer Server. A primordial enforcer and observer, he witnesses the consequences of human intention, memory, and attachment. Neither a god nor a judge, Bird King does not create karma, assign punishment, or grant forgiveness. Even the most powerful machines cannot command him.
